'Egypt will never pose a threat': Netanyahu questioned Egypt's military expansion, Sisi says

Sisi emphasized that Egypt's military expansion is not directed against Israel but is intended to safeguard national security and preserve peace in an unstable region.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously expressed concern over Egypt's military buildup, directly questioning why Cairo continued to expand its armed forces and purchase weapons.

"Netanyahu is responsible for his country, and he knows very well that Egypt will never pose a threat," Sisi said. (Read More)

Senior Researcher Brad Myers Comments,

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said in October 2026 that "Egypt will never pose a threat" to Israel, even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously expressed concern over Egypt's military buildup.

On May 26, 2026, Forbes ran the headline, 'Why Is Israel Expressing Concerns About Egypt’s Military Strength Now?' and reported the following:

"Amidst its wars with Iran and its proxies and tensions with Turkey, Israel has also started expressing concerns about Egypt and its military. Despite maintaining peace since the landmark 1979 treaty, Israel has recently expressed concerns about Cairo’s military strength, suggesting it fears that it could become a threat in the near future."

Does the fact that Israel fears Egypt could become a military threat in the near future have anything to do with possible future prophecies in Psalm 83:4–6 and Isaiah 19:16–17?  Dr. Bill Salus discusses this in his book entitled, The Future War Prophecies on pages 108–109:

"Egypt is the subject of two end times judgments. The first involves a war with Israel and the second is an invasion by the Antichrist that desolates Egypt. Both of these judgment prophecies are explained exhaustively in my book entitled, The NOW Prophecies. Therefore, only a short explanation will be provided in this section. Like Jordan, Egypt has a fragile peace treaty with Israel that dates back to 1979, but this treaty will end according to Egypt Prophecy #1.

“In that day Egypt will be like women, and will be afraid and fear because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which He waves over it. And the land of Judah, (in Israel), will be a terror to Egypt; everyone who makes mention of it will be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts which He has determined against it.” (Isaiah 19:16-17, NKJV; emphasis added)

In this passage Isaiah declares that the LORD has “determined against” Egypt a judgment. Since this episode involves an apparent conflict with “the land of Judah,” which will become “a terror to Egypt.” These details infer that Egypt’s first future judgment results from an act of Egyptian aggression against Israel.

It’s likely that this aggression is manifested through Egypt’s participation, under the banner of the Hagarenes, in the Psalm 83 war.

“They have said, Come, and let us cut them off, (the Jewish state), from being a nation; That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent; Against thee do they make a covenant, (confederacy): The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagarenes.” (Psalm 83:4-6, ASV, emphasis added) "
