Defense Minister: Jenin operation targets terrorists and their operators

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant (Likud) on Monday held a situational assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, the deputy chief of Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and senior defense system officials, following the increased military operations in Jenin.

"The focused effort on the part of the defense system against terror centers in Jenin is advancing as planned," Gallant said. "Our action targets terrorists and those who send them. We are maintaining preparedness and high alert in all sectors, and we are prepared for every scenario."

Later on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold an additional situational assessment, in order to reach decisions regarding the progress and continuation of the activities.

On Monday, the IDF said in a statement that IDF aircraft struck terrorist infrastructure and gunmen in Jenin several times to in order to counter terror threats. In addition, the forces targeted a weapons production and explosive device storage facility.

The forces also located and confiscated an improvised rocket launcher along with additional weapons, the statement added.
