Anti-Israel shift in Democratic Party here to stay, Israeli experts warn

“It’s an evolving trend that shows greater signs of permanence than temporary quality,” Dan Diker, of the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs, told JNS.

(Nov. 6, 2026 / JNS) Hours after Democrats retook both houses of Congress in what is widely described as a “blue tsunami,” which unseated Republicans in decades-long GOP strongholds, Israeli experts told JNS that they are bearish on the growing antisemitic cohort in Congress being a blip, which a pendulum swing is likely to correct next cycle.

“It’s an evolving trend that shows greater signs of permanence than temporary quality,” Dan Diker, president of the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs, told JNS.

Diker, who co-hosts a podcast for JNS, said that Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, of Michigan, who is to be the first Muslim in the upper chamber in January, joins anti-Israel Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is a harsh critic of the Jewish state.

He told JNS that it was a “shocking development” that Mamdani, who campaigned on having the Israeli prime minister arrested, was elected. The mayor “sounds exactly like El-Sayed, but within the context of New York City politics,” he said. “Look at the evolution.”

“The major shift now is that this assault, which had been more on the fringes, on the left fringes of American politics since the 1960s, has now moved into the center of American politics and has now embedded itself in the U.S. Senate,” he told JNS. “That’s the danger. It’s become part of the legitimate mainstream discourse in America.” (Read More)

Senior Researcher Brad Myers Comments,

Has the anti-Israel shift among ordinary Americans and supporters of the Democratic and Republican parties since October 2023 had anything to do with end-times prophecy?

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace published an article on July 13, 2026, titled "Is Israel Losing America?" which noted: "Israel's image and credibility in the United States have fallen to an unprecedented low. A recent Pew poll revealed that 60 percent of American adults have an unfavorable view of Israel, especially among younger respondents."

On November 5, 2026, USA Today put out an article titled "Midterms Might Signal "New Era" for US-Israel Relationship," reporting: "At the same time, the midterms ushered into Congress a slate of Democrats vocally critical of Israel, expanding their ranks in the Capitol. What was once an area of bipartisan consensus, American support for Israel has gone through a sea change in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023..."

Axios carried the headline "The Republican Party Is Starting to Turn on Israel" on June 28, 2026.

Are there emerging trends suggesting that the United States government might become politically unwilling to intervene militarily on behalf of Israel in the war described in Ezekiel 38–39?
