In a video message sent to participants in the International Meeting for Peace in Assisi, Pope Leo XIV urges all participants to join him in being "unarmed instruments of the Lord's peace," stressing that "war can never be waged in the name of God."

Pope Leo XIV says, "War can never be waged in the
name of God. For us believers, 'to fight in the name of religion means
attacking religion itself.' There is no such thing as a holy war..."
Do you think the Pope was saying this possibly in regard to what the US is saying about the war in Iran?
Did Pope Urban II, on November 27, 1095, call Roman Catholics to fight against Muslims in the name of God with the cry "GOD WILLS IT" in what the Roman Catholic Church believed was a "holy war" against Muslims?
History.com provides historical information that answers this important question: "On November 27, 1095, Pope Urban II makes perhaps the most influential speech of the Middle Ages, giving rise to the Crusades by calling all Christians in Europe to war against Muslims in order to reclaim the Holy Land, with a cry of 'Deus vult!' or 'God wills it!'"
Does Pope Leo XIV in October 2026 believe the Roman Catholic Church was wrong in 1095 to fight against Muslims under the banner of "God wills it," and therefore that the US and Israel should not wage war against jihadist forces in Iran that seek to destroy Israel and the US?
