Leo XIV to join over 300 leaders of false religions at scandalous Assisi gathering

The sixth Assisi gathering will feature 384 religious representatives from 53 countries and promote what organizers describe as the ‘spiritual unification’ of the world.

VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — Pope Leo XIV will travel to Assisi on October 27 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the controversial interreligious prayer gathering launched by Pope John Paul II in 1986, together with representatives of the world’s religions.

On October 6, a press conference organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio announced that the international meeting marking the 40th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Peace convened by John Paul II in 1986 will take place in Assisi from October 25 to 27.

The event will bring together 384 representatives of religions, cultures, and institutions from 53 countries, with 155 speakers participating in 24 thematic forums. Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Christian prayer service in the Lower Basilica of St. Francis and will deliver the concluding address in the square in front of the basilica. (Read More)

Senior Researcher Brad Myers Comments,

Do you find it thought-provoking that Pope Leo XIV and Catholic leaders are seeking to promote spiritual unity among the world’s religions? Does this relate to the end-times biblical prophecy recorded in Revelation 17:15?"

"Then the angel said to me, 'The waters where the prostitute is ruling represent masses of people of every nation and language.'" (Revelation 17:15, NLT)

Many Bible prophecy teachers frequently talk about a coming one-world religion in Revelation 17. Could the Roman Catholic Church represent this future global entity that reigns over the earth and bears responsibility for the killing of God's people, as described in Revelation 17:6?

"I could see that she was drunk—drunk with the blood of God’s holy people who were witnesses for Jesus. I stared at her in complete amazement." (Revelation 17:6, NLT)

You may be surprised to know this article comes from LifeSiteNews, which describes itself as delivering news from a "traditional Catholic perspective".

Why would a traditional Roman Catholic news organization use the phrase "leaders of false religions"?

Catholicism.org is a traditional Roman Catholic website. On January 31, 2005, they published an article titled "The Popes on Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus." Here are a few eye-opening quotes from that article:

"The Popes through the centuries have defended the doctrine “outside the Church there is no salvation.” Here is small reference of their teachings on the matter:

...Pope Innocent III (A.D. 1198 – 1216): “With our hearts we believe and with our lips we confess but one Church, not that of the heretics, but the Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church, outside which we believe that no one is saved.” (Denzinger 423)

Pope Leo XII (A.D. 1823 – 1829): “We profess that there is no salvation outside the Church. …For the Church is the pillar and ground of the truth. With reference to those words Augustine says: `If any man be outside the Church he will be excluded from the number of sons, and will not have God for Father since he has not the Church for mother.'” (Encyclical, Ubi Primum)

Pope Gregory XVI (A.D. 1831 – 1846): “It is not possible to worship God truly except in Her; all who are outside Her will not be saved.” (Encyclical, Summo Jugiter)

Pope Pius IX (A.D. 1846 – 1878): “It must be held by faith that outside the Apostolic Roman Church, no one can be saved; that this is the only ark of salvation; that he who shall not have entered therein will perish in the flood.” (Denzinger 1647)

...Then, as though to set this constant teaching of the Fathers, Doctors and Popes “in concrete,” so to speak, we have the following definitions from the Solemn Magisterium of the Church:

Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV (A.D. 1215): “One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful outside which no one at all is saved…”

...Pope Eugene IV and the Council of Florence (A.D. 1438 – 1445): “[The most Holy Roman Church] firmly believes, professes, and proclaims that those not living within the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics cannot become participants in eternal life, but will depart `into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels’ (Matt. 25:41), unless before the end of life the same have been added to the flock..."

The Lord is going to bring His divine judgment against the harlot in Revelation 17:16-17.

This is what the Bible says:

Acts 16:30-31 ...“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved..." ( NLT)

Romans 10:8-13 "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” (NLT)

Galatians 1:6 "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, a curse be on him!" ( ESV)
