HIGH ALERT: IDF Cancels Leave, Reinforces Troops Ahead Of Elections

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir on Monday ordered a military-wide suspension of leave beginning Thursday, October 22, as the IDF prepares for heightened security concerns ahead of Israel’s October 27 Knesset elections.

The decision was made following a comprehensive security assessment involving senior military commanders, with the IDF maintaining its highest level of alert across all fronts.

Zamir instructed commanders to reinforce military positions throughout the country and increase the presence of senior officers at command centers and operational headquarters to ensure maximum readiness.

As part of the preparations, the IDF will deploy the Paratroopers Brigade headquarters and additional forces to reinforce security in the area between Shomron and Binyamin.

Additional troops will also be allocated to other regions according to operational requirements, including air, naval, and ground forces.

During the assessment, Zamir emphasized that the IDF’s primary mission during the election period is to ensure that voting takes place as scheduled and under safe conditions.

The meeting included the heads of the IDF Operations and Intelligence Directorates, along with the commanders of the Northern, Central, Southern, and Home Front Commands. (Source)
