Jordan's King Abdullah II used his address to the 81st UN General Assembly on Tuesday to accuse Israel of forced displacement in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. He called Israel's policy there a war crime and warned that Israeli actions in Syria make it a threat to the wider region.
Abdullah told world leaders not to treat the two Palestinian territories as separate issues, calling them "two fronts of the same Israeli strategy." He argued that Israeli activity in the West Bank is not a collection of isolated incidents but a coordinated policy aimed at pushing Palestinians off their land. "There is a name for that: forced displacement. And it is a war crime," he said.
He also said the Israeli government is attempting "to erase Palestinian life and impose a new territorial reality." Jordan has had diplomatic relations with Israel since the 1994 peace treaty. (Read More)
