Nations Approved to Disarm Hezbollah

Under U.S. supervision, Israel and Lebanon have reached agreement on which countries will deploy forces to southern Lebanon as part of efforts to disarm the militant group. Israel, Lebanon's government, and the United States have reached what international sources are calling breakthrough understandings in negotiations toward a trilateral agreement that would include the disarmament of Hezbollah. According to multiple reports, the parties have now agreed on which nations will be permitted to deploy forces to assist in the disarmament process.

Senior officials speaking to international media outlets said that in recent rounds of talks supervised by American mediators, Israel and Lebanon developed a mutually acceptable list of allied nations that both sides are willing to have participate in dismantling Hezbollah's military capabilities.

The agreed-upon list reportedly includes forces from Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and Indonesia. These troops would likely operate under an international mandate that will be incorporated into future agreements between the countries, according to the reports.    (Source)
