Senior figures in Tehran say the regime plans to drag out negotiations through Trump's term without making concessions. A senior Iranian official has publicly articulated what appears to be the regime's actual strategy toward negotiations with President Donald Trump: Tehran has no genuine intention of reaching an agreement, even over the next two years.
An adviser to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran's parliament and one of the most powerful figures in the regime, laid out the approach bluntly. "Trump will not succeed in reaching a deal with us," the adviser explained. "We will simply accompany him until the end of his term."
Separately, a spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) echoed this strategic direction. "We have achieved the advantage," he stated.
