The two operatives of the Lebanese Resistance Companies were involved in smuggling weapons for Hezbollah, according to the military. In a separate strike on a car, in southern Lebanon’s Baraashit, the IDF said it killed a Hezbollah operative who was involved in attempts to restore the terror group’s military infrastructure in the area.
The IDF said the operatives’ actions were a violation of the ceasefire deal. Lebanese reports said the IDF had carried out another drone strike on a car in the southern Lebanon town of Bint Jbeil that wounded seven people. There was no immediate comment from the IDF on that incident. The EU on Saturday condemned Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon and asked it to respect a ceasefire with the Hezbollah terror group.
Israel conducted large-scale strikes in southern Lebanon on Thursday, targeting the Iran-backed organization and accusing the group of rearming. “The EU calls on Israel to cease all actions that violate resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement reached a year ago in November 2024,” the EU’s foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni stated.
