UN chief, over 20 world leaders will attend Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit on Gaza Monday

CAIRO – 12 October 2025:
Leaders of more than 20 countries will participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, set to be co-chaired by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump on Monday, the Egyptian Presidency confirmed. The summit, the Presidency added, comes within the framework of Trump’s vision for peace in the region and his ongoing efforts to end global conflicts.

It aims to end the Gaza war, advance peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new chapter of regional cooperation and security, the statement added  UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres confirmed attendance, according to a brief note by his office to correspondents.

Leaders from Arab, Muslim, Asian and European countries have been invited. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the summit will witness the signing of a document on ending the war in Gaza. Several European leaders have confirmed visiting Egypt on Monday to attend the summit, including UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and President of the European Council António Costa will also be present.Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was also invited, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are expected to attend.
