Turkey makes contact with Hamas groups holding hostages, source tells 'Post'

Turkey has made contact with two Hamas groups holding hostages with whom there has been no communication until now, a source told The Jerusalem Post on Monday. This comes two days after 137 of the flotilla activists were deported from Israel to Turkey.

Earlier this month, Turkey announced the arrest of a suspected Mossad agent and opened a criminal investigation into Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla over Yom Kippur. Turkey's contact with Hamas comes a day after US President Donald Trump warned the terrorist organization it would face "complete obliteration" if it refuses to give up power and control of Gaza in order for his proposal to be implemented.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday, however, that no part of Trump's plan would be implemented until all 48 hostages are returned to Israeli territory. Netanyahu made these remarks after Trump admitted the day before that he pressured the Israeli leader into accepting his 20-point plan. On Sunday, a Hamas source told Saudi-owned Al Arabiyathat the terror organization had begun collecting the remains of deceased Israeli hostages for the proposal's implementation. (Source)
