Unusual IAF strike in Tripoli targets key Hamas terrorist

Israeli Air Force
aircraft targeted a Hamas terrorist in northern Lebanon, far from the Israeli border. Tripoli, a Sunni area, has rarely been targeted by the IDF until now. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit reported that this afternoon (Tuesday), the IDF, using Air Force aircraft, targeted a key Hamas terrorist in the Tripoli area of northern Lebanon. The target was eliminated in the Sunni region located in the northern part of the country, far from the Israeli border.

This is considered an unusual area for Israeli military operations, especially during the current phase of the northern front conflict. Tripoli had not previously been a target for Israeli strikes, not even during the intense months of fighting against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon in 2024. The IDF stated, "Earlier today (Tuesday), an IAF aircraft, guided by IDF intelligence, struck and eliminated the terrorist Mehran Mustafa Ba‘jur in the area of Tripoli in Lebanon."

"For years, Ba‘jur advanced and directed numerous terrorist attacks against the IDF and Israeli civilians. During the war, he was responsible for rocket fire attacks toward Nahariya, Kiryat Shmona, and additional cities across Israel. Ba‘jur was one of Hamas’ key commanders in Lebanon, and as part of his role, he spent years establishing Hamas’ military capabilities in Lebanon. (Ed note: This Tripoli is located in the state of Lebanon, not the Marine Corps hymn, which refers to the state of Libya.)    (Read More)
