Shortly after Trump’s statement, CENTCOM confirmed the operation via social media. “CENTCOM forces have initiated a series of precision strikes against Iran-backed Houthi targets across Yemen to defend American interests, deter enemies, and restore freedom of navigation,” the Command posted. The strikes mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, which has seen the Houthis repeatedly attack U.S. and allied vessels in the Red Sea, causing disruptions to global trade.
