IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi initiated a meeting with Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu to express his concern over several of the changes the incoming coalition intends to make, such as transferring control of of certain units from the IDF to government ministries.
The meeting was held with the approval of outgoing Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
The Chief of Staff told Netanyahu that he is very disturbed by the news that the coalition agreements include the removal of the Civil Administration and the Border Police in Judea and Samaria from the responsibility of the IDF and transfer them to the responsibility of the Minister in the Ministry of Defense and the Minister of National Security.
He also expressed his displeasure with the intention to appoint the Chief Rabbi of the IDF through an external search committee. READ MORE
