Hamas: Sovereignty would be a 'declaration of war

The Hamas terrorist organization warned on Thursday that Israel's plan to declare sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria would be a "declaration of war".
In a televised address, Hamas' military wing said such a move would prompt a war with the Palestinians.

"The resistance considers the decision to annex the West Bank and the Jordan Valley to be a declaration of war on our people," said spokesman Abu Ubaida, according to AFP.
Israel’s plan to apply sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria has caused an uproar in the Palestinian Authority and the Arab world at large.

PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas warned this week that if Israel implements its plan, it would have to undertake its responsibilities over the territories as “an occupying power”.

Speaking through video link to the Arab Parliament and quoted by the Xinhua news agency, Abbas said that applying sovereignty to any part of “Palestinian land” is "null and void," while reiterating his rejection of US President Donald Trump's Middle East peace plan.

Saeb Erekat, Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said earlier this week that the PA is preparing to present a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council against the Israeli plan to apply sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria.
Jordan has also been vocal in its opposition to an Israeli move to apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II recently warned Israel against applying sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, saying that if Israel goes through with the sovereignty move, “it would lead to a massive conflict with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan".

Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz later threatened that the kingdom would review its relationship with Israel if the Jewish state goes ahead with the sovereignty move.
