One Israeli killed, five injured in Palestinian terror attack outside Ariel

An Israeli soldier was killed, five more injured, in double shooting-stabbing attacks outside Ariel on Sunday. Two other victims were seriously hurt and three suffered lesser wounds. They were taken to Beilinson hospital. One is sedated and on a ventilator. Two Palestinian terrorists attacked a group of Israelis waiting for transport at Ariel junction; they stabbed one, snatched his sidearm and turned it on his victim. They then shot up a car driver, commandeered his vehicle and drove to the nearby Gitai Avisar junction to continue the shooting attack. They abandoned the vehicle before escaping.  Security forces in pursuit of the terrorists have tracked them to the nearby Palestinian village of Burkan. Gunfire was heard from the village. Other Palestinian villages are in lockdown and Route 5 closed to traffic lest the terrorists are planning to continue their attacks. Ariel’s Barkan industrial zone, which employs numbers of Palestinians, closed its gates while the terrorists are at large.
