Dagan: Netanyahu is not doing us any favors - he was elected to apply sovereignty

Samaria Regional Council chairman Yossi Dagan criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, noting that the Likud was elected to apply sovereignty in Judea and Samaria and not to establish a Palestinian Arab state that would endanger Jewish communities.

Dagan, who met with Netanyahu yesterday, said that "the prime minister is not doing any favors by applying sovereignty. He won three election campaigns on this ticket."

"The last three election campaigns acted like three referendums on sovereignty and there was a large majority for a clear statement: immediate sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. It should be borne in mind that besides the Likud, the Yamina and the haredi parties also support this course. Avigdor Liberman also supports this course. There is a large majority for the move, including Yoaz Hendel and Zvika Hauser, as well as parts of Blue and White and Moshe Ya'alon's faction."

According to Dagan, the Knesset and the government have a majority for sovereignty and a majority against "the establishment of a terrorist state in the heart of the country, known as a Palestinian state."

He warned of the section of the 'Deal of the Century' that deals with the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria would "turn settlements into isolated outposts. This is a fancy word for the abandonment of tens of thousands of Israeli citizens, in communities like Elon Moreh, Itamar, Har Bracha, Mevo Dotan, Tekoa, Nokdim, Mount Hebron and Hebron - this is the abandonment of security, and this move also has a majority among the people who are against it."

"There is an attempt here to carry out a hijacking based on the statement of sovereignty, wrapped in a lot of national and patriotic text, to bring in through the back door the idea of a state of terror in the heart of the country and the abandonment of settlements that include tens of thousands of settlers and wrap it in the cellophane of the sovereignty. This is something that will not happen nor will the national camp allow it. If that happens, the national camp might fall apart over something like that,'' added Dagan.
