Egyptian President Sisi to visit Washington for Trump meeting, may meet with Netanyahu - report

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi
will travel to Washington, DC, sometime this month to meet with his US counterpart, President Donald Trump, The National, a UAE state-owned daily newspaper, reported on Friday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may also attend the Trump-hosted meeting.

Subjects to be discussed at the meeting between the US and Egyptian leaders include Egypt's diplomatic relationship with Israel in the aftermath of the Israel-Hamas War in Gaza. No official date for the visit has been announced yet, but it may fall within the same timeframe as Netanyahu's scheduled trip to meet with Trump at the end of the month.

Axios previously reported last week that the White Houseis attempting to organize a meeting between Netanyahu and Sisi. The two leaders have not officially met since before the start of the Israel-Hamas War, but held a phone call shortly before October's peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh. Sisi had originally meant to visit Washington in February, but was canceled due to Cairo's opposition to Trump's plans to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan, Al Arabiya reported. (Ed note: Any guesses on how well it will work out if President Trump tries to shove Sisi down Netanyau's throat?) (Source)
