Persian Drama: Members of Iran's President's Party Threaten to Dismantle the Regime


Members of Iranian 's reformist party have published a dramatic letter including demands to release political prisoners, dismantle the nuclear program, cancel hijab laws and weaken the Revolutionary Guards. Members of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's 'Reformist' party sent a special letter to the President today demanding a series of reforms that could shake the foundations of the entire Iranian regime.

In the letter, defined as a 'historic declaration,' party members list five central demands: dismantling the nuclear program in exchange for removing Western sanctions, immediate release of all political prisoners, canceling mandatory religious dress laws for women, recognizing the Saudi peace plan in the Middle East – and finally, the most dramatic step: separating the Revolutionary Guardsfrom government mechanisms and ending their involvement in the Islamic Republic's foreign and domestic affairs.

These are unprecedented steps in the Iranian political system, especially given that the Revolutionary Guards have held supreme power positions in every field for decades – from military and security to economy and foreign policy.
