A reservist soldier was killed and another two were wounded Saturday morning, including one seriously, when an explosive-laden drone launched from Lebanon impacted near the northern community of Margaliot, the military said.
A second drone was intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The slain soldier was identified Saturday evening as Warrant Officer (res.) Yehezkel Azaria, 53, of the 8th Armored Brigade’s 129th Battalion, from Petah Tikva. The wounded soldiers were of the Alexandroni Brigade’s 6609th Reconnaissance Battalion.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack.
