In the UK’s first King’s Speech to open parliament in over 70 years, King Charles says the government will address the most pressing security matters, including “the consequences of the barbaric acts of terrorism against the people of Israel, facilitating humanitarian support into Gaza and supporting the cause of peace and stability in the Middle East.”He also says the UK government is “committed to tackling antisemitism.”
The king promises planning for the Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in Victoria Tower Gardens will be moved through parliament.
The speech was written by the prime minister but delivered by the king.
