Syrian media reported early Sunday morning that Israel launched air strikes targeting the airports in Damascus and Aleppo.
The Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadeen, which is close to Hezbollah, reported that the airport in Aleppo was attacked with four missiles. According to reports, explosions were heard in the vicinity of both airports
This is the third time in the last two weeks that attacks on airports in Syria have been attributed to Israel, which has not commented on the reports.
Last week, Syria accused Israel of launching an air strike against Aleppo Airport which put it out of service.
The Aleppo Airport has been hit by strikes attributed to Israel several times in the past, most recently in August, when it was also temporarily put out of service. The airport had previously been struck in May.
A strike on the airport in September of 2022 resulted in the closure of the airport for several days.
The strikes are believed to be intended to disrupt Iranian supply lines to Syria and to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
