The judges of the Supreme Court on Wednesday set a date for a hearing on the petition seeking to disqualify Benjamin Netanyahu from serving as Prime Minister on the grounds he violated a conflict of interest arrangement he signed.
Kan 11 News reported that the hearing was scheduled for September 12, a month before the end of the term of Supreme Court President Esther Hayut, who will chair the panel.
The other judges in the discussion will be Uzi Fogelman and Yitzhak Amit. At the same time, the judges are seeking clarification from Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara on how she is handling the issue of Netanyahu's conflict of interest vis-à-vis his work on the judicial reform.
Last week, the Supreme Court announced that it would hear the petition that seeks to disqualify Netanyahu, meaning the Court sees a reason for hearing the petition, and does not reject it outright.
The position of Baharav-Miara was that there is no room for declaring the Prime Minister incapacitated, and that the request of the petitioners is far-reaching and not relevant at the moment.
