MK Avigdor Liberman, who heads the Yisrael Beytenu party, claimed that the coalition and opposition have already reached an agreement on the proposed judicial reform, and that he expects that details will be published later this week.
Speaking at a party meeting, Liberman said, "The expected agreement in the President's Residence, in my estimation, will be published immediately after the appointment of the Judicial Selection Committee on Wednesday, after [MK] Karin Elharrar (Yesh Atid) is elected to be a member of the committee. I believe that both of the sides will announce that they have reached an agreement."
"This agreement is bad for the State of Israel," Liberman claimed. "There is a smokescreen and they are speaking of reasonability and of legal advisers, but the heart of the agreement is the return of [Shas chief Aryeh] Deri to the government, with the support of [MK Benny] Gantz (National Unity) and [MK Yair] Lapid (Yesh Atid). I really hope that they recover and don't lend a hand to this, because the moment Deri returns to the Netanyahu government, it gives significant support to Netanyahu's haredi-messianic coalition."
