IDF: Islamic Jihad preparing for surge in rocket attacks

In recent hours, the IDF has identified an intensification of activity by Islamic Jihad operatives organizing for rocket launches into Israeli territory.

The organization was operating near the launch pits, so the IDF has targeted those same launch pits in the past few minutes.

The current directive for residents of the Gaza periphery and those in areas within a 40-kilometer range of the border is to be in close proximity to protected rooms. Due to the possibility of a retaliatory response from Islamic Jihad, residents are requested to be near protected areas.

"We need to be prepared in the coming hours," said IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Hidai Zilberman. "The one who was surprised is the Islamic Jihad."
