Israeli fighter jets and helicopters early Tuesday morning attacked sites for the production of weapons, including workshops for the production of rockets in Khan Yunis, as well as a site that was also used for the production of concrete components used to build terrorist tunnels.
In addition, six military compounds of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization were attacked, most of which were used as munitions warehouses and as logistical infrastructure of the terrorist organization.
A military position of the terrorist organization in the southern Gaza Strip was attacked as well.
The strikes came after the IDF launched “Operation Shield and Arrow” and eliminated three senior Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza.
IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari commented on the operation early Tuesday morning.
"At this stage we have achieved our goals. If necessary, we will deepen the damage. At this stage the Chief of Staff is conducting a situation assessment together with the Shin Bet, and tomorrow we will recruit a few hundred reservists - and if necessary we will increase that number," said Hagari.
"We have not defined a period of time for this operation - we are prepared as much as necessary, and we will act in accordance with the developments," he added.
