China parades new 'Guam Killer' nuclear missile that can 'reach US territory and destroy aircraft carriers'

A new missile believed to be capable of hitting a US territory has been shown off by China in a grand military parade.
The warheads - thought to be capable of firing around 2,000 miles - could potentially take out large aircraft carriers and even hit the US territory of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.
The "Guam Killer" nuclear missiles could pose a threat for more than 162,000 Micronesian people who call the island home.
Although the Chinese government is not confirming which model of the missile it owns, reporters claimed they were DF-26, which can travel at supersonic speeds.
According to CCTV the country's state broadcaster the missile has been designed, developed and built by Chinese engineers and was commissioned to the People's Liberation Army's Rocket
CCTV reported: "The weapons system of the missile brigades built by the reorganisation system and equipment is a new generation of medium and long-range ballistic missiles developed by China and with complete independent intellectual property rights.
"It is a new type of weapon in the strategic deterrent and strike force system of our military and is a “killer” for combat troops. The backbone of weapons."
A video on the Chinese website Sina reported that the country did not plan to use the missiles "unless it was provoked". READ MORE
