MK Shelah: Netanyahu 'aggression' ruined US aid deal

MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid) blasted Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on his Facebook page, asserting that his "aggression" caused the US to cut back on security aid.

"Netanyahu is bad for security, and now it's clear just how bad," Shelah wrote. "I have - and every Israeli needs to have - concern about the billions that the arrogance and foreign interests of the Prime Minister have cost us in US aid."

According to Shelah, the US security package of the last three years - 3.75 billion dollars on average - did not have to be so "measly."

"In the grace period after the Iran Deal it would have been possible to secure billions more - at least four [billion] for every stage of the deal - and to ease up the limiting factors [in the procedures of handing over the aid]. [Then Defense Minister] 'Buji' Ya'alon said it to Bibi, we in the opposition said it to him.

"But Netanyahu, who asserts that he knows America better than anybody, didn't listen. He acted with aggression and arrogance towards the White House, who had no choice but to interpret [his behavior] as [representing] foreign interests. He broke down the security system through his dealings with the Americans.

"Security and the economy will pay the price in the coming decade. This is what this Prime Minister costs us. As in [military operation] 'Pillar of Defense,' Netanyahu is bad for security," Shelah wrote.
