‘Moral Bankruptcy’: Franklin Graham Reacts to Reports That Caitlyn Jenner Will Pose Nude for Sports Illustrated — and Delivers Dire Warning

Evangelist Franklin Graham responded to reports that transgender reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner will appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated donning only an American flag and a gold Olympic medal, calling such a prospect an example of the “moral bankruptcy” that he says is raging in the current culture.

“What happens when you remove biblical standards and leadership from a country? Moral bankruptcy, that’s what,” Graham wrote on his Facebook page this week. “As our culture abandons its once cherished Judeo-Christian foundation and values, godly traditions disappear and we sink deeper into secularism.”

Graham cited other examples of moral chaos as well, including a New York Times piece that recently discussed whether prostitution should be decriminalized and calls for Elsa, a main character in Disney’s “Frozen,” to have a lesbian relationship in the film’s sequel.

“In the social media campaign for this, one proponent tweeted, ‘Little kids need to learn that there’s nothing wrong with being gay,’” Graham continued. “What a lie! This reveals their agenda to get the LGBT message to young children and influence their lives.”

The evangelist encouraged Christians to stand up for “God’s truth and his righteousness” and to push back against these dynamics with prayer, concluding with scriptures found in Matthew 5:13-16.
Those verses read, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

In a separate post on Tuesday, Graham defended North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory and other politicians who are locked in a battle with the Obama administration over the state’s controversial transgender bathroom bill.

“This is far reaching — it impacts every state and every family in our nation, not just North Carolina.,” he wrote. “Let’s pray for Gov. McCrory and all those fighting this battle for what is right.”
