PA preparing for sovereignty move

As part of the Palestinian Authority's preparations for a possible deterioration of the situation if Israel applies sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, at least one Palestinian intelligence headquarters has in recent days taken out from hiding places illegal weapons that were confiscated over the years.

Ohad Hemo, Palestinian affairs correspondent for Channel 12 News, reported on Thursday that the same forces had hidden the illegal weapons out of fear of them being seized by Israel and possibly by Hamas.

In addition, popular committees operating in Areas B and C since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, consisting of members of the Tanzim and Fatah organizations, were instructed to act on behalf of the PA in these areas.

Earlier on Thursday, the Maariv newspaper reported that US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman has stopped the attempts to mediate between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz and Gabi Ashkenazi, in an attempt to reach an agreement in the government on the outline for applying sovereignty.
