Russia: We may have killed leader of ISIS

Russia is claiming that it may have killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

On Friday, Russia’s Defense Ministry told Russian media that Russia may have killed al-Baghdadi during an airstrike in Syria’s Raqqa in May, and that it was checking the information.

The strike had targeted a meeting of ISIS leaders on May 28 in the city declared by ISIS to be its “capital.”

"According to the information which is now being checked via various channels, Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was eliminated by the airstrike, was also present at the meeting," RIA news agency quoted the ministry as saying, according to Reuters.
